Power to Light in 2008

New Product Solves Old Problem

Bad HMI head feeder cables are more than just an irritation. The least expensive part of an HMI system is also the part that routinely causes more than 50% of all failures. In fact anyone owning or using HMI lighting will probably waste a great deal of time and money every year on faulty cables. Bad cables don't just black out the light, they can often cause expensive damage to the ballast and delays for repairs.

Despite this it has been up to now just too difficult and time consuming to test cables using basic test gear.

With the Power to Light Cable Test we finally have an answer to the problem of testing and maintaining head cables. This simple to use battery powered unit will carry out a high voltage insulation test on all the cores of a 9 pin cable in less than 3 seconds. It can detect problems like burned or broken insulation and leaky plugs while being small enough to be used hand held.

The Cable Test is just as much at home on the test bench where it can be run all day from its own external power supply. There is also an effective and quick continuity test for broken cores using a plug in probe.

Can any HMI user afford to be without one?

Power to Light introduces a fully power factor corrected 575/1200W model.

This unit not only provides the lowest input current but also features universal supply voltage. The 575/1200 P model is able to run on any 50/60Hz supply from 90V to 250V and is no bigger than the standard unit. Typical input current is 11A on a 115V supply or 5.4A at 230V. The standard non-pfc model is also still available.

Look out for more new Power to Light models during 2008.

Power to Light in 2007

Power to Light successfully exhibited this summer at Cinegear in Los Angeles and at the IBC show in Amsterdam in September.

Meanwhile back at home Power to Light has moved into a brand new building in Manchester's Trafford Park area. From our expanded facility we plan to introduce a number of new products to be announced soon.

Power to Light Premises

The DMX512 digital remote control now available on all Power to Light models.
This new feature is fully compatible with industry standard USITT DMX512 and fitted with both male and female 5 pin XLR connectors to allow daisy chaining with other equipment. A single channel address only is required since starting is pre-set to 40% dim level with stopping at 30%. The output dimming control range runs from 50 to 100%. Address setting is by three digit rotary controls on the 575/1200 model and by miniature push button thumbwheel on our larger units. A green led is provided to indicate that a valid DMX signal is being received and the selected address is in the correct range.
The DMX receiver is also electrically isolated from the ballast control system.

Our 6/12kW and 6/12/18kW models when fitted with LTM compatible output sockets are now automatic self-selecting. There is no longer any need to manually switch to and from the 6kW mode.

Power to Light in 2006

Building on Power to Light's continuing success in the USA, we are pleased to announce that Maccam have been appointed as our US agent.

2006 also sees the launch of two new models for the American market: the 2.5/4kW LVI and the Universal LVI both with 95 - 250V input voltage.
